They are meant to be processed in our SilverFast HDR studio software. But on Silverfast, you do your initial Preview Scan, then you tell it to find all the frames, then as you go through each frame and adjust the frame borders, it is re-scanning almost every time.

These archive formats are saved unprocessed and look very dark due to the lack of any gamma adjustment. In Epson Scan, you do a single Preview Scan, then you can make all your adjustments, then you do your final scan.

I haven't had any issue with either, but if OP can post some example pics we could get a better idea what's going on. The V850 Pro also supports film formats up to 8x10 inch when placed directly on the scanner glass. Please check if you maybe have selected one of the HDR (i) RAW format. I have a v750 with the 4x5 holder and I usually just use that, but sometimes I want to get the film borders and I'll use the wet mount holder. So I just do a raw scan of the entire area, then I open that in HDR, make all the frames, and bulk export the tiffs which I can do while the scanner is busy scanning the next group of images.

Its also nice for 35mm because it takes way too long to set up all the scanning frames when the scanner has to do a pre scan every time you zoom in.
